Joseph Paul Mesplou, born November 17, 1922 in Gardena, California, died November 29, 2010 in Torrance, California. The son of Paul and Catherine Mesplou, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Lou, his three sisters and brother, Henrietta, Germain, Yvonne, and Albert. He is survived by his children, Paul, Vincent, and Patrice and 6 grandchildren. Joe graduated from Gardena High School and attended Compton Junior College before being called to serve in the Navy during World War II. After discharge, he returned to earn an Accounting degree from Loyola University of Los Angeles. He was recalled to serve in the Navy for another two years during the Korean conflict. Following his last discharge from the service, he and Mary Lou returned to Gardena. He held a number of accounting and Controller positions with various organizations throughout the South Bay, retiring in 1987 following over 20 years with Teledyne INET of Torrance. Following his retirement, he gave much of himself as a volunteer with Little Company of Mary Hospital. Joe was a devoted father and grandfather, and made friends with ease. He could talk with anyone; making people he knew for an hour seem like lifelong friends. A Rosary will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 7:15 p.m. with the funeral Mass at St. Catherine Laboure on Thursday, December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts of memory be made to the Providence Little Company of Mary Foundation.

Josephine Arroues Voorhees
Josephine "Jo" Arroues was born on January 4, 1909 to pioneer citrus ranchers, Bernard and Marcelina Arroues of Fullerton. She attended Fullerton Union High School and graduated from U.C. Berkeley, with a major in Physical education and minor in dance. Jo taught dance at L.A. Girls Collegiate School until the school's closing during the Depression. She then married William H. Voorhees of Long Beach in 1939. The couple resided in Long Beach where Josephine taught dance at Long Beach City College and later at Long Beach State College. She was a community leader and supporter who was involved in the Assistance League and served as president of St. Mary's Hospital Guild in Long Beach, and president of the Los Angeles Diocese Arch Bishop's Guild. Upon retirement, the couple moved back to Fullerton in 1970 and spent their golden years traveling, entertaining and supporting various non-profit arts and medical organizations. J o is survived by her husband, William H. Voorhees; son, Dr. William W. Voorhees; daughter, Charleen Dunn; grandchildren, Stephanie Erin Dunn, Maj. Joseph Bryan Dunn, William Casey Dunn and Michael Corey Dunn; and great-grandchildren, Kendall Bailey Dunn, Casen Taylor Dunn and Michael Connor Blue. She died peacefully in her sleep at age 95 on Monday, June 14th, 2004. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 20th from 3PM to 6:30PM at McAulay & Wallace Fullerton Mortuary. Rosary will be held Sunday, June 20th at 7PM also at the Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 21, at 10AM at St. Angela Merici Church in Brea. Our most loving mother, Josephine "Jo" Carmen Ambrosio, died peacefully December 13, 2013. Born on March 22, 1927 in San Juan Capistrano, California to Juan and Prudencia Amestoy. Jo met her love, Theodore Ambrosio in Long Beach, California. They married on January 31, 1949 at the San Juan Capistrano Mission Church, and the couple began their married life together in Long Beach raising their seven children. In 1960 the family moved to Norco and eventually Corona, where Jo was very active with Saint Edward's Catholic Church, Saint Matthew's Catholic Church, and Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Preceding her in death are her parents, Juan and Prudencia Amestoy, her husband, Theodore Ambrosio, and her daughter, Theresa Ambrosio-Bowen. Her survivors include her children and their spouses: Joanna Ambrosio (Jeffrey Kaiser), Michelle Ambrosio, Denise Ambrosio, John Ambrosio, Joseph Ambrosio (Leane), and Annamarie Ogawa (Dennis). She has eleven grandchildren: Anthony, Michael, Michelle, David, Rocco, Jude, Natalie, Jacob, Gabriel, Marcus, and Joseph. Services for Jo will be held at Saint Matthew's Catholic Church in Corona on Friday, December 20, 2013 beginning at 10:30 am with a Rosary and then a Mass of Christian Burial, followed by interment at Pierce-Crestlawn Memorial Park, 11500 Arlington Avenue, Riverside, California.
